Served as Chair or Co-chair of Biology and Environmental Science Department at USF 2015-2020.

  • Oversaw the hiring of four faculty positions and several adjuncts.


  • Served on core team for building a new and renovated science building.


  • Oversaw the staffing and set-up for a new satellite campus in Biology, Lafayette, Indiana.


  • Put in place three new curricula within Environmental Science (Conservation Biology, Sustainable Food Systems, Environmental Health and Safety).

Served as Chair of Environmental Studies Department at Warren Wilson College 2000-2010.

  • Oversaw the largest major at WWC, carrying 25+ percent of student body each year, while enrollment for college grew by 50 percent.


  • Served on 22 faculty or staff search committees, chair of nine of those, developer of one new faculty line.


  • Oversaw six concentrations within Environmental Studies.


  • Authored four departmental reviews, two alumni surveys, two major grant applications.
